she has also been aging rapidly since this past summer. problems with bladder control. problems with her vision. problems with increased pain and fatigue.
last night it became clear to us that it was time to let her move one. to let her be free of her ills and begin her next adventure.
and so today she got hot dogs and a walk and cuddles and bryn brushed her and did her nails one last time.
and then we took her to the vet and were with her while she was released from this life. it was terribly, horribly sad and yet also beautiful as well.
and my kids were amazing and present and matt as well. and we cried and said our goodbyes. and now we stay behind to miss her and celebrate her life.
she LOVED the snow

I know how hard this is, but she will always be with you and your family!
Our dog Molly dies suddenly, and it was hard for us all. I wish i would have had day much like yours with her before she left us, so in that you are blessed.
But it does not ease the pain.
Hugs and Love to you all!
thanks Melinda. i am grateful, very grateful for our day with her today.
at the end it was very peacefully and i felt she was embracing her new adventure - that is helping.
Oh I am so sorry for your loss. My family will be just as heartbroken when the inevitable happens as well. Dogs are so much more than just pets. They truly are family.
thanks Becky. it's been a hard weekend - we keep going to call her and remembering she is gone...
funny part is how often it has to do with food - Maya sure did love her people food :D
